Steven M. Van Hauwaert

I am currently an Associate Professor in Comparative Politics at Forward College (Paris), as well as an affiliated Fellow at Radboud University (Nijmegen).

My main research fields are comparative political behaviour and challenges to (representative) democracy, particularly in Western Europe and Latin America. I am the principal investigator of the Global Public Opinions Project and a team leader for Team Populism.

My specific research areas include public opinion, responsiveness, representation and, more generally, macro-politics. I also study populism and political extremism.

I am always interested to explore new collaborations, as well as supervising ambitious and motivated research students, both at the MA and PhD level.
